Affordable Connectivity Program

The Federal Communications Commission has created a new program to help keep eligible families connected to the Internet. More may be found on the FCC website here, the AT&T website here, or the Comcast website here. A brief description of the program is quoted below.

Warren participates in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) so all families of Warren students should be eligible.

The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC benefit program that helps ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more. The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price. The Affordable Connectivity Program is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.

INTERNET ESSENTIALS FROM COMCAST

Comcast is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive broadband adoption program. It provides low-cost broadband service for $9.95 a month plus tax; the option to purchase an internet-ready computer for under $150.00; and multiple options to access free digital literacy training in print, online, and in-person. A household is eligible to participate if it has at least one child eligible to participate in the national school lunch program (NSLP), is located where comcast offers internet service, has not subscribed to comcast internet service within the last 90 days, and does not have an overdue comcast bill or unreturned equipment. Families that enroll in the program can continue to enjoy the service as long as one child eligible to participate in the nslp is living in the household.
