Meet the new choir directors

      Head Director Brian Long

Q: What choirs and classes are you teaching this semester?

A: “Chamber Singers, Boys of Harmony, Connection, Beginning Piano and Hi-Lites”

Q: As a director, what do you wish to accomplish for yourself this 19-20 school year?

A: “All of the accomplishments that the choir receives is because of their preparation.  What they accomplish, I will have accomplished.”

Q: Based off the potential displayed by each individual choir last week, what goals would you like to see each group accomplish?

A: “All of our choirs will see group success at all of their competitions, and they leave this year with a little more courage and strength.”

Q: As a fellow student, I’ve gotten to know you and your teaching style a little bit, but for other students in the school who have not met you yet, what should they know about you?

A: “I am brutally honest, and I want my students to live a life of honesty. We can learn a lot about each other if we are first honest with ourselves. I want everyone to enjoy the life that they have been given and work on being the better version of themselves: including myself.”

     Assistant Director Kelsey Coram

Q: As a director, what do you wish to accomplish for yourself thus 19-20 school year?

A: “The obvious thing would be that each competition and concert ends with a standing ovation or a gold medal.  My real goal for this year is to make connections (no pun intended) with students and help them grow to a place they didn't realize was possible.”

Q: What choirs and classes are you teaching this semester?

A: “My day is made up entirely of choir including Fermatas, Bella Note, Spirit, Hi-Lites, Connection and Chamber Singers.”

Q: What inspired you to become a music director?

A: “I am a WC grad so my whole choir experience started in Warren Township. I always had the idea of being a choir teacher in the back of my mind, but I didn’t truly decide until I went to college and had to live without choir. Freshman year was rough, and I realized it was because I missed singing and making music.”

Q: As a fellow student, I’ve gotten to know you and your teaching style a little bit, but for other students in the school who have not met you yet, what should they know about you?

A: “I love talking with my students. While I always walk into a class with a plan, I like to be flexible and try new things.  My tone also changes depending on the class. Some groups come in timid which means I need to bring big energy. Others come to class hyper and talkative, which means I have to keep my energy calm and stable.
